Join the Community to Commemorate the 80th Anniversary of VE Day

St John the Baptist Church, Hammerwich – Sunday 11th May at 10:00am

This year marks a significant milestone in the national history — the 80th anniversary of VE Day, when victory in Europe was declared and the Second World War in Europe came to an end.

To honour this important occasion, St John the Baptist Church in Hammerwich will be holding a special VE Day Commemorative Service on Sunday 11th May at 10:00am. This heartfelt event will pay tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who lived through the war and helped secure peace.

Following the service, all are warmly invited to continue the celebration with food and refreshments at the Hammerwich Community Centre, just a short walk away. It’s a chance to share stories, connect with neighbours, and reflect on the enduring spirit of community that brought people together then — and still does today.

Everyone is welcome — young and old, families and friends. Whether you have personal connections to the war or simply wish to honour those who served, please join us in remembrance and unity.

Let’s come together as a village to remember the past and celebrate peace.

Look forward to seeing you there.
