A5 Muckley Corner & Rising Sun Island
Work to upgrade the current lighting to LED’s on the A5 between Muckley Corner and Rising Sun Island will be carried out. The work will take place from 10 October to 4 November 2025, on weeknights, between 9pm and 6am.

We’re writing to inform you that we’ll be carrying out work to upgrade the current lighting to LED’s on the A5 between Muckley Corner and Rising Sun Island. The new LED lighting will be more energy efficient and require less maintenance in the future.
Our work will take place from 10 October to 4 November 2025, on weeknights, between 9pm and 6am. To carry out our work safely we’ll work under a combination of lane closures and full carriageway closures as follows:
10 October – lane closures on Muckley Corner roundabout and approaches.
13 October to 15 October – full westbound carriageway closure between Muckley Corner and B5011 Chase Road junction.
16 October to 21 October – westbound lane 1 closure between Hanney Hay Road and Rising Sun Island.
24 October – eastbound and westbound lane 2 closures between Hanney Hay Road and B5011 Chase Road junction.
27 October – eastbound lane 1 closure between Rising Sun Island and Pool Lane.
28 October to 30 October – eastbound lane 1 closure between Rising Sun Island and B5011 Chase Road junction.
31 October – eastbound lane 1 closure between Rising Sun Island and Hanney Hay Road.
3 November to 4 November – full eastbound carriageway closure between Hanney Hay Road and Muckley Corner.
During full closures, the following diversion routes will be in place:

Hanney Hay Road to Muckley Corner eastbound carriageway closure

For residents whose properties are within our works area, we’ll provide escorts through, but please be aware that this can take some time while we ensure the works area is safe.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained.
